xx New AECB Passivhaus Designer courses booking now
April 07, 2011, 03:23:12 AM by Kate de S

AECB’s CarbonLite Passivhaus Designer training programme now also offers Science of Passivhaus, Construction of Passivhaus and Building Services for Passivhaus,  in addition to the already popular range of existing courses – Understanding Passivhaus Principles and Methodologies, Using PHPP to Design Low Energy Buildings and Thermal Bridging.

The courses can be booked  individually, or together to form a full syllabus, which can be taken as an intensive course with revision session and the Passivhaus Designer exam from the Passivhaus Institut.  (If you have already taken some modules there is no need to repeat these – see note below)

The programme is specifically developed for the UK with UK building examples, and is delivered by trainers with experience in UK Passivhaus.

The intensive course with revision session and exam at £1849 for AECB members and £2199 for non members.  This intensive course does not include the Thermal Bridging course, as this is not a requirement of the Passivhaus Designer syllabus, however we do recommend that Thermal Bridging is booked as a supplementary course to improve your skills as a Passivhaus Designer.

Individual one-day modules cost  £249 for AECB members and £299 for non members ; two-day modules are £499 for AECB members and £599 for non-members. All prices ex vat.

Dates are currently being offered in London (September 2011) and Bristol (October 2011) – see the full course calendar at http://www.carbonlite.org.uk/carbonlite/course_calendar.php . For more course information and details of prices  and booking, see http://www.carbonlite.org.uk/carbonlite/courses.php, or contact Helen Bennett helen@peterwarm.co.uk.

Is it suitable for me?
The prerequisites are a qualification or experience in the building sector (e.g. architects, architectural technologists, energy consultants, engineers, builders or building professionals).  If you are not sure if this course is suitable, or would like further information, please contact Helen Bennett helen@peterwarm.co.uk.

Already completed CarbonLite courses?
If you have already completed some or all of the original CarbonLite courses, don’t worry, the content of these courses has not changed.  Completion of these courses does not make you exempt from any sections of the exam, but you will have already completed the learning on these courses.  If you have attended the PHPP or Thermal Bridging courses, but not yet completed your ‘take away’ exercise it is not too late to email these in to Warm.

xx AECB launches new local groups in Birmingham & Lancashire
January 17, 2011, 08:20:06 AM by Kate de S
The AECB is active locally as well as nationally, and its local groups network is going from strength to strength. Two new groups, one in Lancashire and one in Birmingham are launching this month. This is on top of the new groups recently established in both Central and Northern Scotland. And the Cheshire group is spreading its wings into Shropshire this month, as well.

These new groups add to the successful groups already running around the country: see the AECB forum (http://www.aecb.net/forum/index.php/board,24.0.html) for more information.

All AECB members are welcome at these friendly, informative events. For details, and to let organisers know of your interest, visit and post on the AECB forum. If you would like to come along as a guest to a 'taster' session, please contact Debbie Mauger by emailing anadapta"at"theh2ozone.co.uk.

Members who would like to see a group begin close to their home, and would like to join others in organising one, are also invited to post on the forum, or to contact Debbie.
